For many years I have seen a mating pair of ducks show up at the fountain in Pershing Square. Often, they can be seen flying up Grand to take advantage of the pools and fountains at California Plaza. It seems to me a few years back that there was a brood of hatchlings that became something of a crowd pleaser on the lines of a Bunker Hill version of "Make Way For Ducklings!" Other bird sightings to be found in Downtown are the magnificent red tail hawks that soar over Pershing Square, tropical parrots both wild and fettered as well as the cloud of Vaux swifts that migrate to Downtown at the end of the summer each year.
