I was walking down Wilshire near the corner of Bixel when I saw this.
Those news boxes have been there for at least four years, probably much longer. And the city is only now getting around to flagging the code violation? Nice timing given how screwed newspapers are at the moment.
A few minutes later, down on 6th Street, I saw this.
I want to know what hit that light. Probably movie related.
At 6th and Broadway I got a nice angle on the KRKD towers.
Finally, I was able to get a snap of the interior of the soon-to-open D-town Burger Bar.
Wow, it looks great! The Hayward has really undergone an amazing transformation over the past year.

Looks like they hung a painting from Crack Gallery next door.
Hope the food is good once open :)
Good catch on the news rack tags. They started doing first enforcement of that ordinance up in the valley a couple years ago. It must now be reaching Downtown (or at least Wilshire).
The newspapers have had warning that the city was going to do this for years and years and years and years.
So, now, finally, in 2009, they get around to dropping the axe. Well, I feel no sympathy for these companies. They had plenty of time to get their crap in order. I'm talking like several presidential terms.
Now let's see if they're bluffing or not and will actually start removing the newspaper boxes. Stay tuned.
